Day 319 - June 29, 2010

So what have I been up to lately? Well, aside from spending a sleepless night on a red eye flight to Buffalo,
I’ve been celebrating love and a new life together,

Catching up with family,

And meeting my sweet nephew, Jacob, for the first time!

Couldn’t you just eat him up? I can’t wait to spend more time with this yummy baby!

Day 317 - June 27, 2010
As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, cloth yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony...And be thankful.

Knock, knock, knock…
Me: Well hello there Summer. Welcome back. Has it really been a year already? Well, don’t just stand there, come on in and stay a few months.
The other day, I was walking out of Target and heard a woman exclaim, “Whoa, it’s HOT out here!” This weekend, as my husband and I sat outside at the pool, I remarked, “Oh my goodness, it’s HOT out here!” A few minutes later, Greg replied, “Wow, it’s HOT out here!”
I’ve come to realize that when you live in Southern California, “it’s hot out here” is a phrase you hear or say nearly every day of the year. The weather is gorgeous 99% of the time and yet everyone, including myself, walks outside and acts like there are surprised to be greeted by such a beautiful sunshine-y day. I check the weather network every morning and although everyday looks like the last, I still find myself thinking, “I can’t believe how hot it’s going to get this afternoon.”
Summer is officially here, even though here in sunny California it has felt like summer since March. For many, the start of summer means it’s time to hit the beach. For me, summer means hoping on a plane back home to my family and friends.
Summer means catching up on missed cuddles.
Summer means jumping in puddles at the splash park.
Summer means celebrating the wedding of two friends.
Summer means sharing a Popsicle with someone you love.
Summer means celebrating some very special birthdays.

Day 307 - June 17, 2010
Four years ago, I came across a little French booklet filled with Bible passages and verses about God’s love and forgiveness. One of the chapters in this booklet talked about eternity and what it meant to spend eternity with God. Eternity is a difficult concept to get our heads around in this finite world we live in. The author asked the question, “What is an Eternity?” The following is my simple English translation of the author’s explanation of eternity.
Imagine a tiny insect on Earth. His job is to transport every little piece of the Earth to the furthest planet in the solar system. He starts in a tall tree and takes a tiny piece of a leaf in his mouth. He travels for decades and finally reaches the furthest planet and drops the piece of leaf. He goes back to Earth to collect a second bite from that leaf. Imagine him doing this over and over again until he finally takes the last piece of Earth in his mouth and drops it on the furthest planet. Only than has eternity begun.

Day 305 - June 15, 2010
I am completely overwhelmed by the response I got from my very first blog giveaway. To see 711 entries is unreal! When I posted the giveaway 2 weeks ago, I was expecting to reach maybe 100 entries, but even that didn’t quite seem impossible. You have blown me away. Thank you to all of you who took the time to not only enter, but also take a look around my blog. Welcome to all my new followers! And now, I'm thrilled to announce the winner of the $40 gift certificate to CSN Stores.
(winner confirmed!)
Thank you to CSN Stores for the great prize and to all of you for making my very first giveaway such a success!

Day 304 - June 14, 2010
Dear sweet songbirds outside of my window,
Could you please keep it down in the morning? You see, a girl needs her beauty sleep. Singing your songs at 5am is far too early a wake up call for this girl. Your voices are sweeter than the sound of the repairman hammering outside my front door, but at least Mr. Repairman has the courtesy to wait until after 9am before he sings. I’m sure your feathers are beautiful and I know that God made you just as he formed me, but I beg you, please save your songs until after I get out of bed. It would be so lovely to sleep without my bright orange earplugs for once. Thank you for your consideration on this matter.
Sincerely,
Sleepy-Eyed Sister
