Like every parent, I like to think my baby's a genius, but today, I'm even more convinced of that fact. It's funny, today, a friend of Greg's posted on Facebook that their 5-month-old son just rolled over for the first time (hooray!) and I was thinking, it won't be long before our Adelyn is rolling over. I didn't know how true that statement would be.
About 10 minutes later, Adelyn was playing on her polka dotted blanket; reaching for her toes and sucking on her fingers. I watched her swing her right leg over her body and back again. She's getting her leg pretty far over, I thought. I ran into the bedroom to get the Flip cam, you know, just in case. And thank goodness I did. Less than 1 minute later, on day 117, my sweet baby girl rolled over from her back to her stomach for the first time! I'm such a proud mommy! Check her out!
(Please excuse the proud mommy commentary throughout the video.)
In a matter of hours, Adelyn turned into a rolling machine! We spent the afternoon visiting with Holly and Easton, and Addy was eager to show off her new skill. She wouldn't stay on her back for more than a minute before rolling over. We can't wait to show Daddy tonight!
I'm feeling so much better today. No fever since Sunday morning and minimal pain. So thankful my immune system is strong enough to fight off the infection without antibiotics.
Since I was feeling so well, we headed over to little 1-week-old Easton's home to attempt a newborn photo shoot.
After several attempts, the set up was as far as we got. Sweet little sleepy Easton preferred to rest in the warmth of his mommy's arms and I don't blame him one bit.
Once Easton was settled back down, Addy jumped in on the action.
I'm hoping both Adelyn and Easton are up for a second attempt tomorrow.
There is a picture, that used to hang on our fridge back home, of my husband and I in our mother's arms when we were less than 1 year old. I think back to that photo often and it amazes me that somehow, 19 years later, our paths crossed and we fell madly in love. And now today, we have a beautiful daughter and I spend my days looking into her eyes and dreaming about all the joys her life may hold. I dream about the day she'll take her first steps. I dream about watching her Daddy walk her down the aisle. And today, I'm dreaming that maybe one day, she'll look at this picture and just like her Mommy, she'll say, "This was the day I met my husband."
