Day 273 - September 29, 2015

This afternoon, I watched Briar grin from ear to ear while jumping her little heart out on a mini trampoline.

"Do you love gymnastics?" I asked.

"It's my favourite!" she exclaimed.

Day 263 - September 19, 2015

After a restless night's sleep, poor Adelyn was exhausted this afternoon. Her little sister sweetly tucked her into "bed" and read her bedtime stories. Such a sweet little mama!

Adelyn likes to leave little notes and pictures on our pillows for us to discover when we climb into bed. I loved this little Mickey Mouse drawing she left us the other night.

Day 255 - September 11, 2015

Earlier this week, our little 1-year-old decided that she was ready to start using the potty. She was a very quick learner which was a huge relief to me. I used to watch Adelyn like a hawk and follow her around with the potty hoping to catch her pee. Amazingly, Briar is very independent and will walk to the bathroom, pull down her underwear and go all on her own. Her potty chart is filling up very quickly with stickers.

Briar was beyond thrilled this morning when I took her to the store to pick out her very own underwear. As we pulled into the parking lot, she yelled from the backseat, "New underwear! Ohhh yaaaa!"

We're so proud of you, Little B!

Day 252 - September 8, 2015

I walked into the room and memories from my childhood came rushing back. Memories I didn't even realize were still in my mind. Memories of the table. The wooden platform. The white board with pieces of tape all over it. The heavy vest. The light. The shadows. The sound of the beep.

Today, I am thankful for my parents who put on brave faces for me as a child when they probably just felt like crumbling. Now it's my turn.

I will be brave for you, baby girl.

Day 249 - September 5, 2015

With Daddy working another Saturday, Adelyn woke up this morning and decided to scrap our library plans and spend a girls only day at Disneyland instead.

Speaking of girls only, I learned something new about girls today. I took the vacuum out this evening to take care of a little ant situation we came home to.

Adelyn reached for the vacuum and said, "Mommy, I can vacuum because I'm a girl."

"You can vacuum because you're a girl?" I asked. "What about Daddies? Can't they vacuum?"

"No, Daddies can only play. Mommies and girls can vacuum," she responded.

Looks like we're going to have to change up some roles around here and teach our girls that Daddies can most definitely vacuum.
