Day 27 - January 27, 2017

At 38 weeks pregnant, the baby is the size of a pumpkin. This seems pretty accurate since it basically looks like I'm walking around with a pumpkin stuffed up my shirt. The pelvic pain and pressure is constant at this point and my midwife told me that baby girl is deep in my pelvis. She wouldn't be surprised if I didn't make it to my appointment next Thursday. After having two 41.5 week pregnancies, I sort of doubt she'll come early, but we can hope!

Day 25 - January 25, 2017

Getting some big sister practice in this afternoon; not that she needs it.
We already know she's going to be a fantastic big sister!

Day 24 - January 24, 2017

Today was Adelyn's 100th day of Kindergarten! For the last week, she's been gathering and helping me make 100 hair clips for her 100 day project. In my rush to get both girls to school this morning, I wasn't able to get a picture of her completed project, but I did snap a photo on my phone of Adelyn stringing 100 pieces of cereal onto a necklace while I was in her classroom.

Day 18 - January 18, 2017

After school today, I asked Adelyn's teacher if there was anything I could help him out with since I didn't make it in to her class to volunteer this week. Briar's eyes lit up when he handed me a stack of papers. So as Adelyn worked on her homework assignment, Briar eagerly helped me assemble little workbooks for her sister's class.

"Mr. Spence gave us homework too, right Mommy?"

Day 14 - January 14, 2017

After almost a week of rain, we decided to take advantage of the sunshine and get outside. We hadn't walked Hollywood Blvd since Adelyn was a baby. The girls loved putting their hands into the cement in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre and asked us to read each and every star we passed on the walk of fame.

Day 13 - January 13, 2017

At 36 weeks pregnant, our growing girl is the size of a honeydew melon.

Big sister wondered what she would look like with a 36 week belly.

Day 9 - January 9, 2017

I can't stop smiling. We got one final glimpse of our baby girl today before she makes her big debut next month. Everything looks wonderful! Her chubby cheeks are to die for. We even caught a video of her sticking out her tongue and yawning. Her two vessel umbilical cord doesn't seem to have impacted her growth at all. She's measuring around 5 lbs, 10 oz and if she stays in my belly for the next 4 weeks, she'll be a healthy 7 lbs, 10 oz at birth. We cannot wait to have her in our arms very soon.

Here's our favorite picture from today. Our sleeping beauty with her chin resting on her arm and her little fingers up by her eye.

Day 8 - January 8, 2017

At 35 weeks pregnant, our little one is the size of a coconut. Judging by the size of my belly, she's much bigger than any coconut we can find in a California grocery store.

Our Moana-loving girls couldn't help but turn this little coconut into a kakamora!

Day 2 - January 2, 2017

We were stopped at a traffic light on our way to pick up our new family van. All of a sudden, I heard a loud gasp come from the back seat of the car. I turned around to see Adelyn with her hand in front of her mouth, open wide in wonder and awe.

"Wow! It's just so beautiful. God is so creative." she slowly whispered under her breath.

I looked out the windows at the scenery around us. An old run down art and furniture warehouse to our left, a rusty chain link fence to our right, railroad tracks and construction machinery in front of us. In the distance I could see some mountains on the horizon.

"What's so beautiful?" I asked. "The mountains in the distance?"

She looked over at her sister who was quietly playing with a stuffed animal and softly said, "Briar is just sooooo cute with her bunny."

I smiled and looked at Greg. The beauty was right in our car.

May this new year overflow with moments of awe and wonder for all of God's beautiful creation.
